The homeowner's Hacienda-style residence, rich in Spanish architectural heritage, featured multiple courtyards and planters that created distinct outdoor spaces. The challenge was to design landscaping that complemented and enhanced the home's focal architecture while ensuring each segregated area maintained a cohesive overall aesthetic. Balancing the individuality of each courtyard with the unified Hacienda theme required a thoughtful approach to design and plant selection.
To harmonize the distinct courtyards and planters with the Hacienda-style architecture, we curated an overarching theme of Texas native and adapted plants. This allowed us to select a diverse palette of flora to highlight different areas of the landscape, giving each space its own character while maintaining a cohesive feel throughout the property. By thoughtfully choosing and placing specific plants in each courtyard, we enhanced the unique features of the home's compartmentalized design. The consistent use of native materials and plants ensured that, despite the segregation of outdoor areas, the entire landscape remained unified and complementary to the architectural focal point of the home.
